(CBN) has announced postponement of Bank
Verification Number (BVN) registration till
October 31, 2015.
The apex Bank made the announcement
Tuesday, the same day it had earlier
announced as deadline for the exercise.
Bank customers since Monday in various
parts of Lagos metropolis besieged their
branches in a desperate and last minute
moves to obtain their BVN pins.

Correspondent to some commercial Bank
branches in Ogba, Ojodu, Ojokoro under Ifako
Ijaiye, Agege and Ikeja local Council areas of
the State, indicated that despite the fact that
some customers have processed and
collected their BVN pins, yet, teeming
population of them are either yet to start the
registration or conclude it.
Some customers who spoke with our
Correspondent shortly after the
announcement expressed delight on the
development. An entrepreneur in Ojodu, Mr.
Peter Emmanuel told AFRICAN EXAMINER
that he was relieved by the postponement, as
it was very clear that so many customers
could not meet up with the process today
(Tuesday).
Our Correspondent gathered that at a point
Tuesday, around 1.00pm, a new generation
Bank opposite WAEC office in Ogba closed its
doors to customers, attributing the action to
over congestion in the Banking hall.
Another Bank Customer, Mrs Jibola Ajuwon
indicated that she has been frustrated since
yesterday as she was not able to get through
the process. She pointed out that she was
glad about the news as she would now have
enough time to do the registration.
Mrs Ajuwon was hopeful that she would finish
the registration process before the week runs
out, adding that she would encourage others
in her shoes to do the same.
BVN registration process has been on for over
a year. The technology is among other
benefits is to aid easy Bank transactions and
check fraudulent transactions in the account
of owners. The process involved taking down
the account bio-metric data of the account
owners.
