Again Female Bomber Blasts
Maiduguri Market, Dozens Killed
From Mustapha Abdul Salaam – Another fatal
eruption has occurred in a poultry market in
Maiduguri metropolis, the Borno State capital,
North Eastern Nigeria, with scores dead and
several injured.
The State command police spokesperson, Gideon
Jibrin, has confirmed the blast, which occurred
around 12 noon and informed the security
operatives were in control of the situation.
Like the recent suicide bombings, the Saturday
explosion sources around the vicinity, indicated
that it was carried out by a young female suicide
bomber. The blast took place after she
successfully made her way into the market.
The bomber’s body AFRICAN EXAMINER gathered
was seriously shattered and damaged due to
veracity of the explosion.
Members of the community vigilante group – the
Civilian JTF told our Correspondent that the
number of the dead at the blast has been
estimated at 20 for now. Similarly, no fewer than
18 people were seriously injured.
The group has since joined the security and Police
in the rescue operations.
The suspected Boko Haram members attacked
the same market last year December. Six people
including two female suicide bombers were killed
in the blast.
