GOVT HOUSE GUSAU





On behalf of govt. and people of Zamfara State , the executive governor Hon Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar has commiserated with the family of Marafan Sokoto , the Sokoto Sultanate Council, and Shinkafi Emirate Council on the passing away of our beloved father Alh. Ummaru Aliyu Shinkafi (Marafan Sokoto) who died on Wednesday , 6th July, 2016 at a hospital in London, United Kingdom after a protracted illness.
   Governor Abdulaziz who is an in-law to the late Shinkafi describes the departed elder statesman , traditional title holder of the sultanate , politician, security guru and a technocrat as a complete gentleman of the highest order whose immense contributions to the development of security services , traditional institutions and humanity in Nigeria and beyond , remains indelible.
   The governor recalls that the former federal commissioner of Internal Affairs and head of National Security Organisation (NSO) , played greater role that lead to the formation of solid foundation for Nigeria Security Services.
   The "Gentle Politician" said governor Yari also contributed immensely to the activities that lead to the eventual return of Nigeria's democracy.
   The governor therefore describes the death as a great loss, not only to the family of the deceased , but also to the people of Zamfara State, Sokoto Sultanate Council in particular and Nigeria in general.
  He calls on family members , friends and associates of the departed father, grandfather, traditional title holder and a politician of a high repute, to take solace in the fact that , the late Marafan Sokoto lived an exemplary life and played the part assigned to him diligently and patriotically, in accordance with the dictates of the religion and the constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
  The governor therefore enjoined all to emulate good virtues that the departed soul left behind.
  Governor Yari prays that Allah grant him the eternal rest.
