Plateau Government To Probe Jos
Chlorine Explosion
Agabus Pwanagba, Jos – Following the Chlorine
explosion at a water treatment plant in Jos, the
Plateau State Capital, which killed 8 persons and
left over 100 persons hospitalized, Governor
Simon Lalong, said the State Government will
set up an independent committee to investigate
the cause of the explosion.
Lalong disclosed this Monday, when he visited
the scene of the incident.
He said the state committee will be independent
of the one set up by President Muhammadu
Buhari.
The Governor added that it was unfortunate that
the incident had happened, just few weeks after
the twin bomb blasts killed many People in the
state.
Lalong who sympathized with the families of
those who lost their lives and other victims that
are receiving treatments, assured them that
Government will settle their hospital bills.
He frowned at the situation where people are
building on the water pipes, saying; “It was
wrong for people to build on pipes around the
area,” which will be one of the terms of
reference of the committee.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary State
Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs. Hannatu
Dantong, assured residents that the water from
the Water Board is safe for consumption.
Recall that that the explosion occurred late
Friday night, while residents were sleeping.
