Money Laundering: EFCC Invites ThisDday Publisher Nduka Obaigbena

that the publisher of ThisDay Newspapers,
and Chairman of Newspaper Proprietors
Association of Nigerian (NPAN), Nduka
Obaigbena, was on June 26 invited to the
Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) over what our source
at the agency described as alleged money
laundering.

SaharaReporters has exclusively learned that the
publisher of ThisDay Newspapers, and Chairman
of Newspaper Proprietors Association of Nigerian
(NPAN), Nduka Obaigbena, was on June 26
invited to the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) over what our source at the
agency described as alleged money laundering.

A copy of the invitation letter obtained by
SaharaReporters shows that Mr. Obaigbena was
scheduled to report at the commission’s
headquarters in Abuja on July 7.
It is unclear if Mr. Obaigbena honored the
invitation. He is currently visiting the United
States.
The kernel of the infraction remains unclear but
sources disclosed that it may be connected
with suspicious transactions running into several
millions of dollars.
