Court Dismisses Case Against Kwankwaso

      Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso

A Kano High Court sitting in Gezawa town
yesterday ordered the Nigerian Bar
Association(NBA) to investigate Engr.
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso’s lawyer,
Barrister Okechukwu Eze, over what the
court described as “unethical
misconduct”.
Kwankwaso’s lawyer, Eze, had sued the
Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC), praying the court to
restrain the EFCC from arresting his
principal over a petition filed by Kano
Concerned Pensioners.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Justice
Mohammad Yahaya said the lawyer filed
a suit asking the court to restrain EFCC
from arresting Senator Rabiu Musa
Kwankwaso without the consent of the
former Kano governor.
The court ordered that status quo ante
should be maintainedand struck out the
case.
However, our correspondent gathered that
the former governor denied the suit filed
by the lawyer, saying he never asked Eze
to file any suit on his behalf.
Kwankwaso in a statement signed by his
principal private secretary, Muhammad
Inuwa Ali, said “I was not arrested by
EFCC andI was not under house arrest or
prevented from discharging my legislative
duties or personal duties by any agency”.
Kwankwaso appealed to his political
supporters to disregard the rumours being
peddled against him by his detractors.
