The Katsina State chapter of the Peoples’
Democratic Party, PDP, has urged the
state government not to consider
dissolving council chairmen insisting that
it will resist such attempt.
Speaking to newsmen in Katsina, the
state acting PDP chairman, Salisu Yusuf
Majigiri, said elected officers at the
council level must be allowed to complete
their tenure in line with the spirit of the
constitution.
“We realised that the state government is
all out to use the state House of
Assembly to dissolve the council
chairmen. This is unconstitutional and
any attempt to do that will be fiercely
resisted.”
The PDP said the mere fact that Governor
Masari’s first communication to the state
assembly was about the council chairmen
smacks of witch-hunting declaring that
“This is just because the council chairmen
are PDP members”.
The PDP chairman stressed that the
actions of Governor Masari has confirmed
that his administration was hell bent on
witch-hunting the previous administration
and urged the state government to turn
its attention to addressing the needs of
the people.
