Abuja - Contrary to denial by the Presidency

Abuja - Contrary to denial by the Presidency that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) were not ordered out of the Presidential Villa, it has been confirmed that officials of the Department  have been removed from spots where they can perform “close protection roles” for President Muhammadu Buhari, reports Sahara Reporters.

The Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the President has formally informed the DSS that its personnel would no longer provide close body protection for the President.

The ADC in a memo dated June 24, said the DSS officials are being replaced with men of the Nigerian Army and Police personnel “who were trained as Presidential Bodyguards.

He noted that the decision to strip the DSS officials of their roles was part of efforts to enhance security within the villa.

He, however, noted that personnel of the DSS in conjunction with other security forces are to man other duty beats/locations within the immediate outer perimeter of the Presidential Villa.
