The crisis engulfing the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since its failure in the general elections reached its peak yesterday, forcing its national chairman, Dr Adamu Mu’azu, as well as chairman of its Board of Trustees (BoT), Chief Tony Anenih to resign from their positions.

Mu’azu, it was gathered, submitted his resignation letter to the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, citing health concerns.

Anenih, on his part, said he stepped down from his position, so that President Goodluck Jonathan would assume the position when he leaves office on May 29.

In a one-page letter dated May 20 2015, which he signed and sent to the president, titled “Notice of my decision to step down as Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples Democratic Party”, Anenih said his decision would enable President Jonathan to effectively assume the chairmanship of the BoT.
