Ahead of the May 29 nation-wide
swearing in, Zamfara State police command has arrested 27 suspected members of a terror group, including two notorious killers who allegedly organized the recent murder of many people in Gusau metropolis.
The state police commissioner, Mr, Olufemi David, who spoke to LEADERSHIP through the acting area commander, CSP Ibrahim Umar Lukunche, confirmed that 15 of the suspects were identified as active members of the terror group, Ya’n Sara Suka syndicate.
He disclosed that two of the arrested suspects, Kwande and one Tilli mai Manjagara, had been on the wanted list as notorious leaders of the terror group.
The police commissioner also disclosed that a suspected major Indian hemp dealer in the state, identified as Sani Hamza, was also arrested in possession of some of the substance.
He said the suspects were arrested last Friday during a specially organised operation to rid the state of frequent attacks and killing of innocent citizens by the terror group, and he gave the assurance that his command was set to track down other suspects now at large “to ensure that the society is free from persistent insecurity threats within and outside Gusau metropolis”.
It would be recalled that the state house of assembly had recently ordered its House Committee on Security to investigate the frequent and re-occurring murder cases in the state capital, following petitions by some members of the public.
